Legendary Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed how the Premier League club missed out on signing Kylian Mbappe.
Wenger explained that in 2016, Monaco convinced the young Mbappe to stay with them instead of joining Arsenal. At the time, Mbappe was 17 and just breaking into Monaco’s first team.
In 2017, a childhood photo of Mbappe in an Arsenal shirt from 2004 surfaced online, fueling speculation. However, Mbappe soon moved to Paris Saint-Germain on loan, with an obligation to buy for €180 million.

This summer, Mbappe joined Real Madrid as a free agent.
Reflecting on the situation, Wenger told TF1, “At the start of his career, there wasn’t much pressure, and Monaco managed to persuade him to stay by promising more playing time than he would get at Arsenal, Liverpool, or Real Madrid. We can say his parents advised him well, and he made the right decision.”
