Chelsea legend Frank Lampard believes England is missing left-back Luke Shaw at Euro 2024. Despite being selected by manager Gareth Southgate, Shaw hasn’t played due to a hamstring injury that has sidelined him since February.
Shaw’s absence has affected England’s strategy, as Lampard explained on BBC Radio 5 (via Metro).
“Not having a natural left-sided left-back has been significant because Luke Shaw brought a lot to the last tournament,” Lampard said. “He was more offensive on that side, allowing Kyle Walker to stay back and create a back three.
This provided balance and allowed offensive players to operate between the lines. Without Shaw, that balance is missing, and it’s a problem Southgate needs to address.”
