BREAKING: Akpabio Links Killing of 16 Soldiers in Okuama to Foreigners

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has expressed optimism that Nigeria will undergo significant transformation under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, stating that the country will be unrecognizable in seven years. Akpabio made this statement during the launch of the Kugbo Bus Terminal in Abuja, where he urged Nigerians to support the president’s efforts.

“I have no doubt that by the time the president is through with his tenure in the country, seven years from today, many people will not recognize FCT, they will not recognize Nigeria again,” Akpabio said. “So, all I can say is: let us continue to pray for him and be hopeful that the challenges you see today, tomorrow, you will see them no more.”

Akpabio’s statement comes as the Tinubu administration faces criticism for its decision to end fuel subsidies, leading to a significant increase in the cost of living. However, the Senate President believes that with the support of Nigerians, the administration will thrive.

The launch of the Kugbo Bus Terminal is seen as a commitment to the welfare of FCT residents, and Akpabio commended President Tinubu for appointing Nyesom Wike as FCT Minister, despite their political differences.

“So, I believe that you are a square peg in a square hole, and I must thank the President for having the eyes to pinpoint those who can perform and bringing them,” Akpabio said.

Wike, in his remarks, expressed gratitude to Tinubu and the National Assembly for their support, assuring that no development initiatives would be left unfinished in the FCT. He also highlighted the benefits of the bus terminal project, including reduced insecurity and improved transportation.

“When this is completed, what it means is that you have access to the place whether it is raining or not, you are sure of being conveyed on vehicles you can identify… it would reduce the incidences of one-chance [kidnappers parading private cars],” Wike said. “Again, it would reduce insecurity.”
