Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable Zazu, has claimed that the extravagant lifestyles of internet fraudsters are the main reason the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is cracking down on them.
He explained that these fraudsters are neglecting their parents, leaving them in poverty while they enjoy luxurious lifestyles funded by their illegal activities, which has drawn the attention of the anti-graft agency.
In a video message shared on his Instagram account, Portable said, “Why won’t EFCC arrest the youths when they are doing Yahoo, using iPhone 15, and staying in hotels, but their mothers are selling akara [bean cake] and their fathers are suffering?”

However, he urged the EFCC to thoroughly investigate before making arrests, emphasizing that not everyone living a luxurious lifestyle is involved in internet fraud.
