IYC Has Not Failed Ijaw Nation – Joseph Evah

The National Coordinator of the Ijaw Monitoring Group, Comrade Joseph Evah, has scored the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) high in its activities.

The erstwhile spokesperson of the Ijaw Nation Congress (INC) made the assertion while playing host to a delegation of the IYC Western Zone on Wednesday in Lagos.

The delegation led by Chairman of the 9th Zonal Executive Council, Comrade Nicholas Tamara-Denyefa Igarama had visited the activist to familiarise and seek advise for its administration.

In his presentation, spokesperson for the IYC Western Zone, Comrade Tare Magbei commended Evah for his “selfless service to Ijaw nation, Niger Delta and the entire Nigerian state,” adding that the “immeasurable contributions” of Evah and his likes “was responsible for the sustained show of commitment to the Ijaw course by the present generation.”

On his part, Igarama expressed gratitude to Evah for leading him aright over the years in the line of activism.

According to the IYC Western Zone Chairman, the move was part of his administration’s “mandate to foster all stratas of Council, stakeholders and relevance groups alike”.

“We have come to seek your wise counsel and blessings as the 9th Zonal Executive Council kicks off the mandate of the Rebirth Agenda,” Igarama said.

Reacting, Evah commended the delegation for choosing the path of “unity and harmony in its agenda”.

“What you’re doing can never be in vain. You’ll be discouraged in different ways. It’s a thing of joy to carry the mandate of your people. I encourage you to be consistent.

“Don’t be discouraged. Your steadfastness allows your name to be written in gold. As far as Ijaw nation is concerned, IYC has not failed her,” Evah stressed.

The activist further called on stakeholders and public officials to give the needed support to the IYC, describing the body as the strength of Ijaws and the Niger Delta.
