Argentina captain Lionel Messi missed the first penalty kick in a shoot-out as they defeated Ecuador in the 2024 Copa America quarter-final on Thursday night.

The match ended 1-1 after 90 minutes, with Lisandro Martinez scoring for Albiceleste in the first half and Kevin Rodriguez equalizing in stoppage time.
