Rema Criticizes Nigerian Music Industry as ‘Fake’ at Album Launch

Rema

Afrobeats sensation Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, voiced his critique of the Nigerian music industry during his sophomore album, ‘He Is,’ listening party in Lagos. He pointed out that the industry is filled with what he considers “fake people,” a sentiment that inspired one of the tracks on the album, ‘Now I Know.’

Rema emphasized, “There are a lot of fake people in the industry, it’s a fake industry. So when people show love and support, it’s genuine. Nobody should accuse them of chasing clout. It’s real.”

He elaborated on the theme behind ‘Now I Know,’ saying, “The song reflects my realization of who truly supports me. It’s about discovering that those I once loved and trusted have turned against me.”
