Stakeholders in the education sector have established a minimum benchmark score of 140 for admission into universities, according to the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede.

This development was announced during the ongoing policy meeting in Abuja, where various institutions submitted their minimum benchmark scores to JAMB.

This was announced by the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, during the ongoing policy meeting in Abuja.

Oloyede emphasized that the benchmark score is not the cut-off mark for admissions for all universities. “JAMB does not set cut-off marks.

What we have is a minimum benchmark score that any university cannot go below. Different universities have their benchmark scores,” he explained.

Recall that various institutions have submitted their minimum benchmark scores to JAMB, with some universities recommending scores as high as 200 and above.

These institutions include Pan-Atlantic University, Lagos; Covenant University, Ogun state; Obafemi Awolowo University, Osun state; and the University of Lagos.

Oloyede cautioned Nigerians against misinformation about JAMB setting cutoff marks. “JAMB does not set cut-off marks. What we have is a minimum benchmark score that any university cannot go below. Different universities have their benchmark scores.”
