In a surprise move, the Northern Ethnic Youth Group Assembly has withdrawn from the planned protest against President Tinubu’s government, instead urging support for his economic reforms.

The group acknowledged that the current challenges are a legacy of the previous administration and expressed optimism about Tinubu’s plans.

“We appeal to other Arewa groups to acknowledge that Nigeria’s challenges are a shared responsibility,” said Ibrahim Dan-Musa, spokesperson for the Northern Ethnic Youth Group Assembly.

“President Tinubu needs more time to implement his plans for the country. The ongoing reforms offer hope for a better future.”

The group commended Minister of Steel Development Prince Shuaibu Audu for his plans to restart the Ajaokuta Steel complex’s light section mill, which is expected to produce 400,000 metric tons of iron rods annually.

“We believe the nation has endured and survived, and it’s time to look toward a promising future,” Dan-Musa said. “President Tinubu’s presidency presents a fresh opportunity for transformation. While skepticism is understandable, we believe reforms under Tinubu are taking shape, paving the way for a better future.”
