The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to addressing the challenges of oil theft and pipeline vandalism, ensuring a conducive business environment for oil companies and benefiting all Nigerians.

Minister of State Petroleum Resources (Oil), Heineken Lokpobiri, made this promise while announcing the collaboration between the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources and Great Minds Events on the inaugural Africa Oil and Gas Digital Transformation Conference 2024.

Lokpobiri stated, “The Government of President Bola Tinubu is committed to ensuring a conducive business environment for National Oil Companies and International Oil Companies by tackling issues of pipeline vandalisation and oil theft.”

He emphasized that the conference aims to address the dynamic challenges and opportunities presented by digital transformation in the oil and gas industry.

Lokpobiri added, “This conference is not just about increasing production but also ensuring the benefits are felt by all Nigerians. The Petroleum Industry Act has revolutionised the energy sector with a friendly regulatory framework, ensuring transparency and stimulating investment.”

The minister also stressed the shared responsibility to protect the environment, resources, and livelihoods of those in oil-producing regions.

The conference, scheduled for September 3-4, 2024, in Lagos, Nigeria, will feature keynotes, panel discussions, and networking sessions with industry experts.
