‘We're Not Afraid of Protests,' Says Tinubu | Daily Report Nigeria

President Bola Tinubu has declared that his administration is not afraid of protests, emphasizing that its focus is on the welfare of ordinary Nigerians.

“We are not afraid of protests. Our concern is the ordinary people, and the damages that will be done,” he said during a meeting with traditional rulers at the State House on Thursday.

The president acknowledged the challenges facing the country, including infrastructural decay and security concerns. However, he expressed optimism about the economy, stating that it is on a path of gradual but steady recovery. He highlighted various initiatives aimed at reviving the economy, including the activation of the student loan programme, consumer credit scheme, and fiscal autonomy for local government councils.

President Tinubu also emphasized the importance of infrastructure development, citing the Lagos-Calabar coastal road project as an economic energizer. He assured

Nigerians that his administration will continue to work towards delivering on its promises of Renewed Hope. “I assure you, Nigerians, we are looking at the light at the end of the tunnel. I can assure you, this economy will be revived, will survive, and prosper,” he said.

Also, The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, commended the president for his openness and willingness to engage in dialogue. The Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, also thanked the president for inviting relevant officials to brief the traditional rulers on the state of the economy.
