Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has alleged that a senator is secretly backing the #EndBadGovernance protests in the FCT by providing food for the demonstrators.

Wike made the allegation revealed on Thursday night, following an emergency security council meeting, citing an intelligence report from FCT security agencies. He stated that the senator would be summoned for questioning over the alleged sponsorship.

The Minister lamented over the destruction of properties in various states due to the protests, acknowledging citizens’ rights to peaceful assembly while urging protesters to adhere to a court order restricting demonstrations to the National Stadium.

He stressed the potential risks of allowing protests in the FCT, citing the presence of the international community and the potential for loss of lives and property damage.
