The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has discovered fraudulent practices in tertiary institutions’ admission processes in Nigeria.

At a press conference in Abuja on Sunday, JAMB’s spokesman, Fabian Benjamin, revealed that the board has noticed an alarming increase in false affidavits and doctored age adjustments on national identification slips submitted to upgrade recorded ages.

Benjamin stated that some institutions admit candidates outside the approved Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) platform, processing them through illegal admissions windows to legitimize their actions.

Consequently, JAMB has directed institutions to disclose all illegally admitted candidates prior to 2017 within the next month, starting from August 1, 2024.

He warned that failure to comply will result in non-recognition of such admissions.

The Spokesman reiterated that the minimum age for admissions remains 16 and warned that JAMB will no longer condone illegal admissions without registration numbers.
