A pastor has been sentenced to 8 years imprisonment for the rape of his church member’s wife.
According to reports, the pastor, identified as Apostle Desmond Eke, the founder of Deliverance Ministry of The Good Shepherd, Umuihita Avu, Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State was sentenced by an High Court sitting in Owerri, and presided by Hon. Justice T.N. Nzeukwu on July 31, 2024.

Pastor Desmond was said to have raped the 25-year-old victim, as mother of four, under the guise of delivering her from marine spirits, which he claims will wipe out her family.
Reports from the prosecution showed that pastor Eke administered a substance on the victim in the guise of holy water and anointing oil, which had a soporific effect on the woman, and she woke up to find the pastor having sex with her.

When she tries to fight him off, the pastor told her his semen was essential in liberating hee and destroying the chains of her spirit husband and marine spirit.
The case was subsequently reported to the police by a civil society organization, identified as Onurube Foundation and despite all pressure and threat, they followed it up until judgement was delivered.
