The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Maj Gen Christopher Musa, has revealed that the military and security agencies are trailing those behind the call for an undemocratic change of government.

Musa made the revelation on Tuesday after a meeting with heads of security forces at the Defence Headquarters.

He appreciated Nigerians for their understanding and commitment to upholding law and order, acknowledging that some protesters calling for regime change were sponsored.

Musa assured that the military and security agencies are working together to bring those responsible to book.

He called for collaboration and calm, mediation, discussion, and dialogue towards national unity and cohesion.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt-Gen Taoreed Lagbaja, pointed out the army’s operational commitment to combating protests and ensuring sustainable peace and security.

Lagbaja stated that attention had not been diverted from combating terrorism and banditry.

The Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Adm Emmanuel Ogalla, reiterated the navy’s commitment to ensuring safety and security in the maritime domain and sustaining operations in the Niger Delta to boost oil production and revenue generation.

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, assured that the Nigerian Air Force remained committed to successful operations in all operational engagements, defending the nation’s territorial integrity.

Other security chiefs in attendance included the Comptroller-General of Nigeria Customs Service, Comptroller-General of Nigeria Immigration Service, and Commandant-General of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
