The Presidency has said the appointment of the next Inspector-General of Police (IGP) will not be based on religion and ethnic considerations.

Incumbent Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, who was expected to leave office on February 1, after attaining marked retirement age has brought about surrounding speculations on ethnic consideration of the next IGP to replace Adamu.
