Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, accused Atiku of endorsing violent protests and putting his own interests ahead of national stability.
Onanuga noted that Atiku’s warning should have been directed at the looting mob instead of the security agencies, who have remained professional and restrained in the face of extreme provocation.
He commended the Service Chiefs and security personnel for their patriotic duty to the country, while accusing Atiku of relying on Section 40 of the constitution to justify a protest that has turned into a riot.

The Presidency also referenced the UK’s opposition figures, who have rallied behind the government to condemn ongoing riots, and called for the arrest and prosecution of those behind the destruction of public and private assets.
They encouraged Atiku to adopt a similar nationalistic temperament and put the interest of the country’s stability ahead of personal gain.
