Afrobeats singer Bella Shmurda is contemplating a shift in his music style, considering moving away from his “unique” voice to experiment with a new sound. In a recent interview with Just Vibes, the “Cash App” star expressed his desire to explore a different musical direction that might resonate with a new audience.
“I know I have a unique voice, but I don’t want to keep using it the same way anymore. I want to try something new,” Shmurda shared.
Since breaking into the spotlight in 2020 with his hit track “Vision 2020,” Bella Shmurda has maintained a consistent sound. However, like many Nigerian artists who have altered their styles to reach broader, often international, audiences, he’s now considering a change.

This trend has been met with mixed reactions. Artists like Wizkid and Davido have previously experimented with new sounds—Wizkid with his Caribbean-themed 2017 project “Sounds From The Other Side” and Davido with his 2018 EP “Son Of Mercy,” though the latter eventually returned to traditional Afrobeats. More recently, artists such as Rema, Fireboy DML, and Ayra Starr have also adjusted their music to appeal to global listeners.
