Troops of the Land Component (LC), Joint Task Force (JTF), South South (SS), Operation DELTA SAFE (OPDS), have destroyed several illegal refining sites (IRS) in Rivers and Bayelsa States, Niger Delta Region (NDR).
The operations, which were conducted based on credible intelligence, resulted in the identification and destruction of three IRS in Odagwa, Etche Local Government Area (LGA), Rivers State.
Reports held that over 30,000 liters of stolen and illegally refined products were confiscated and destroyed.

Troops also discovered an IRS, three receivers, and connecting pipes used to convey stolen crude to the IRS at Akaso field. Other items were also confiscated and destroyed in line with the mandate of Operation DELTA SAFE.

In Bayelsa State, troops confiscated over 12,000 liters of stolen and illegally refined products along Dasaba Creek in Nembe LGA. Other items recovered include a fiber boat, five ovens, metal drums, and massive reservoirs used for storage.
Maj Gen Jamal Abdussalam, General Officer Commanding 6 Division and Land Component Commander, commended troops for their efforts and urged them to continue denying freedom of action to criminal elements in the NDR.
Abdussalam believed denying freedom of action to criminal elements would ensure pipeline integrity and increase oil production in the region.
