A devastating attack has occurred in Gudu Local Government Area of Sokoto State, where bandits ambushed soldiers on patrol, resulting in the loss of four lives.

Daily Report Nigeria reports that two additional soldiers were injured in the assault, which took place over the weekend.

Yahya Gudu, the member representing Gudu at the state House of Assembly, confirmed the incident.

“Yes, it is true. Gunmen ambushed soldiers on patrol along Kukurau-Bangi road on Saturday, killing four and injuring two. They also burnt down their patrol vehicles.”

Gudu stated that he notified Governor Ahmed Aliyu about the attack, and reinforcement has been sent to the area.

A local resident, who wished to remain anonymous, described the bandits’ movements, stating they passed through the area on 20 motorcycles, each carrying two well-armed individuals.

The incident follows a previous attack in the same community, where seven persons were killed by bandits pursuing vigilantes.
