In a ceremony held in Abuja on Monday, President Bola Tinubu sworn in Esther Walson-Jack as the new Head of Civil Service (HoS) of the Federation.

The event took place before the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting and was attended by top government officials.

During the ceremony, Tinubu praised the outgoing HoS, Folashade Yemi-Esan, for her exceptional service and commitment to duty.

He lauded her for her dedication to enhancing efficiency, transparency, and professionalism in the public service, which has set a high standard for public administration in Nigeria.

Tinubu also thanked Yemi-Esan for her massive contributions to the nation, saying, “She has served our nation exceptionally well with distinction, guiding the Civil Service with significant transformation and reforms. Her dedication to duty, loyalty, and great vision have made a significant impact on our country.”

After the swearing-in ceremony, Walson-Jack promised to build on existing reforms and bring innovations and creativity to the service.

She acknowledged the legacy of her predecessor and pledged to take the civil service to greater heights.

Yemi-Esan, in her valedictory speech, urged civil servants to be professional in their duties and always put the progress of the nation first.

She stressed that public servants were servants of the nation and should work towards achieving greatness for Nigeria.

The FEC meeting went into a closed-door session after the event, with the newly sworn-in HoS, Walson-Jack, in attendance.

The meeting will discuss key issues affecting the nation and ways to address them.
