Despite missing previous deadlines, Dangote Refinery has reaffirmed its commitment to releasing Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, into the market by August.

The assurance was given by Anthony Chiejina, the Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, in an interview with PREMIUM TIMES on Monday.

When questioned about the delay in commencing domestic supply, Chiejina revealed that the company had always stated August as the target month and that it was still within that timeframe.

Recall that the development comes after multiple postponements of the refinery’s domestic petrol supply timeline.

In June, Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Group, announced that petrol refined at the refinery would enter the market in July.

However, the deadline was also missed due to a fire incident at the refinery, which caused a disruption in production.

The 650,000 barrels per day Dangote Petroleum Refinery began diesel and aviation fuel production in January and has since received many crude oil deliveries.
