The National Council of State has reiterated its commitment to upholding constitutional procedures in Nigeria’s governance.

During its recent meeting, the Council revealed their support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration, commending his policy decisions and achievements over the past year.

The Council, comprising former presidents, heads of state, state governors, ministers, and other dignitaries, also addressed the recent #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests.

While acknowledging the right to peaceful protest, the council frowned upon calls for Tinubu’s resignation, saying that any change in government must follow constitutional procedures.

Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq of Kwara State, who briefed the press after the meeting, disclosed the Council’s vote of confidence in the President.

Abdulrasaq also mentioned that the governors had a separate meeting with the President, where they reiterated their support.

In addition, the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, presented a report on the country’s security situation and a preliminary report on the recent protests.

The Minister of Solid Minerals, Dele Alake, stated that the protests were seen as an attempt to disrupt the current administration’s activities.

Furthermore, the Council praised Nigerians for resisting any unconstitutional attempts to change the government, reaffirming its commitment to democratic principles and the rule of law.
