Katsina Govt Establishes Special Electronic Court for Corruption Cases

Katsina Govt Establishes Special Electronic Court for Corruption Cases | Daily Report Nigeria

Katsina State Government has announced the establishment of a special electronic court to handle corruption cases and related offenses.

The announcement was disclosed by the Chief Judge of Katsina, Justice Musa Danladi, during a familiarization visit by delegates from the State Anti-Corruption Commission. The commission’s chairman, retired Justice Lawal Garba, led the delegation.

According to Danladi, the special court will be designated solely for the trial of suspected corruption offenders and will be equipped with an electronic evidence presentation system.

He explained the importance of collaboration between the judiciary and the anti-corruption commission in stemming the tide of corruption in the state.

Justice Danladi also urged the commission to base its operations on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and to ensure that all operations are carried out in accordance with due process.

Furthermore, he pledged his full support for the commission and announced plans to establish special magistrate courts in the three senatorial districts of the state.

Also speaking, Garba explained that the visit was aimed at informing the chief judge about the commission’s operations and seeking collaborations.

He announced that the chief judge has the power to take over any criminal case and stressing the need for the commission to familiarize itself with the chief judge’s office.

The delegation also paid a similar visit to the Commissioner for Justice, Fadila Dikko, who pledged to collaborate and provide necessary support to the commission.

Dikko upheld the importance of fighting corruption and revealed that the commission is under the supervision of the Ministry of Justice, making them partners in the fight against corruption.
