Former Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi has suggested that Chelsea may be preparing for a potential transfer ban. According to Mikel Obi, this could explain why the club has been actively acquiring new players.
Chelsea has already invested £185 million on 10 new signings, including Pedro Neto, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Filip Jorgensen, Omari Kellyman, Renato Veiga, Marc Guiu, and Tosin. The club is also favoring extremely long contracts for these players.
In an interview with beIN Sports, Mikel Obi said, “The club is signing a lot of players, and there seems to be a strategy behind it. I suspect they might be expecting a transfer ban and are stockpiling players to ensure they have enough to last for the next two or three seasons.”
