The caretaker committee, led by Benjamin Omale and Prof Bem Angwe, was sworn in on Wednesday, with the National Chairman of the APC expressing regret over the situation. He stated that the decision was made to prevent the party from collapsing and to unite the party in Benue State.

The development is the latest in the crisis rocking the Benue chapter of the APC, with Governor Hyacinth Alia and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, backing different factions.

The APC National Working Committee has delegated the responsibility of conducting primaries for local government elections to the caretaker committee.

The newly inaugurated chairman of the caretaker committee, Omale, promised to work towards unity and reconciliation among aggrieved members in the state.
