Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) was thrown into mourning on Thursday following the death of final year student, Esu Rita Ema. The French department student was on her way to submit her final-year project when she was struck by a car near the university’s main gate.

Eyewitnesses described the accident as brutal and devastating, with one stating, “I was an eyewitness to the accident. Right in my presence, a complete human being was cut into pieces.”

The incident has left the university community in shock and grief, with many students, traders, commuters, and security personnel gathering at the scene.

The driver of the car reportedly stepped out of the vehicle unscathed, leaving many to question the circumstances of the accident.
