Heartland FC vehicle was involved in a serious accident on Friday near Umunna, close to Okigwe in Imo State. The incident occurred while the club’s players and officials were en route to Abakaliki for the Ifeanyi Ekwueme TICO/SELECT Pre-season Tournament.
Several players and staff sustained injuries of varying severity and received first-aid treatment at a nearby facility.
Heartland FC confirmed the accident in a statement, explaining that their vehicle collided with another that had been carelessly parked following a previous accident while trying to avoid an oncoming vehicle.

“The accident happened at Umunna close to Okigwe still within Imo State,” the statement partly read.
“The vehicle in its attempt to dodge an uncoming vehicle collided with another carelessly parked vehicle from another accident.”
