Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) submitted his resignation to President Bola Tinubu on Saturday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Abubakar’s decision to step down marks the end of his tenure as the head of the NIA, a position he held since his appointment by former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2018.
With a rich background in foreign affairs and international relations, Abubakar brought a wealth of experience to the role.

Prior to his appointment as Director General, he served as Senior Special Assistant to the President (SSAP) on Foreign Affairs/International Relations.
