A staggering 31.8 million Nigerians are grappling with severe food insecurity, exacerbated by widespread malnutrition among women and children, according to the 2024 Cadre Harmonise report. prices

The report attributes the surge in food prices to the removal of fuel subsidies and ongoing security challenges, pushing millions into a precarious situation.

“The surge in food commodity prices has placed millions of Nigerians in a precarious situation,” said Julie Osagie-Jacobs, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning.

Stakeholders emphasized the need for a collaborative approach to address the food security crisis, involving civil society organizations and the private sector to broaden the reach of nutrition initiatives.
