The burial ceremony of a legendary figure, Onyeka Onwenu, fondly referred to as the “Elegant Stallion” occurred today August 30, 2024 in Lagos.
Onwenu passed away on July 30, 2024, at the age of 72. Her passing has sent shockwaves across the nation.
The beloved socialite, singer, writer, politician, broadcaster, activist, and actress, was a household name, and her demise has left many in a state of sorrow.
Onwenu’s death occurred unexpectedly at Reddington Hospital in Ikeja, after she collapsed during an event honoring Dr Stella Okoli, the Managing Director of Emzor Pharmaceuticals.

The news of her passing was met with an outpouring of tributes and condolences from fans and fellow celebrities, who have been celebrating her remarkable life and achievements.
As the funeral proceedings unfold, a video has emerged showing Onwenu’s body being carried away by pallbearers adorned in traditional Isi Agu outfits.
Her family announced that the funeral service took place at the Fountain of Life Church in Ilupeju, followed by a private burial at a vault in Ikoyi.
Onwenu’s legacy spans multiple fields, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her two sons.
