A car crash in Ogun state has claimed the life of two children, leaving seven others injured.

According to reports, the accident, which involved a white Toyota Camry (with plate number – AGL36JA) was said to have occured around 11pm on Saturday, August 31, 2024.

Confirming the accident, the spokesperson of the Ogun State Sector Command of the FRSC, Florence Okpe said the accident was as a result of overloading and over speeding.

She said;

“Operatives from the FRSC Itori Unit Command carried out a rescue operation on Saturday, 31st August 2024, at Kere, Itori, following a crash that occurred at about 2300hrs,” the statement read. 

“It was a single-vehicle crash involving a white Toyota Camry with registration number AGL36JA

 

“A total of 7 male adults, 1 male child, and 1 female child were involved in the crash. The male child and the female child were k!lled, while the others sustained various injuries

“The injured victims were taken to General Hospital, Ifo, and the corpses were deposited at the morgue.

“The suspected causes of the crash were excessive speed and overloading. The car was overloaded with passengers,”

Also confirming the accident, the Ogun State Sector Commander, Akinwunmi Fasakin said the crash was as a disregard for life and property, as they saw nothing wrong with the overloaded vehicle.

He also urged motorists to avoid overloading their vehicles with goods or passengers, as it is dangerous for the driver and other road users and contravenes traffic regulations.
