Cristiano Ronaldo has been named European Men’s Player of the Decade by the International Federation of Football History & Statistics’, IFFHS
The Portuguese forward who helped his nation lift the 2016 UEFA European Championship, defeated a number of other high ranking soccer stars to emerge as the IFFHS’ best European player between 2011 and 2020.
His former teammate and close ally at Real Madrid, Sergio Ramos grabbed second place, while German goalkeeper Manuel Neuer completed the top three on the list.
The current Juventus forward spent a large part of the last decade with the Spanish giants, winning four UEFA Champions League titles, three FIFA Club World Cups, two La Liga trophies, among many other individual and team honors.
His work hectic in that period contributed greatly to him becoming the highest goalscorer in football history, beating Josef Bican’s tally of 759 goals in January 2021.
He also guided Portugal to wining the inaugural Nations League trophy in 2019, scoring a hat-trick against Switzerland in the Semi-finals.
Portugal defeated Netherlands 1-0 in the final to win the tournament on home soil.
