Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has issued a stern warning to Manchester City and Arsenal regarding this season’s title race.

Liverpool showcased their dominance with a 3-0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday. The Reds controlled the game, scoring three times without conceding to hand their rivals their second loss in three games.

Luis Diaz netted twice in the first half, with Mohamed Salah providing both assists. Liverpool continued their control after the break, adding a third goal from Salah in the 55th minute.

Van Dijk emphasized that Liverpool is not just participating in the competition for the sake of it but to win it. He also noted that Manchester United was fortunate to escape with only three goals against them.

“It’s a proud moment,” Van Dijk told Sky Sports. “What pleased me the most was the performance from start to finish. We dominated and should have scored more. Winning 3-0 is a big improvement from last year. I’m not competing in any competition just to compete. I want to win. We came up against a very good team in Man City and Arsenal.”

Liverpool will face Nottingham Forest in their next Premier League match on September 14, following the international break.
