A man has been charged to court for the alleged defamation of a police officer in Oyo state.
According to reports, the man, identified as Ganiyu Abiola, 39 is currently facing a two count charge before an Iyanganku Chief Magistrate court for defamation of character and breach of peace.

It was gathered that the defendant had committed the offence through Facebook and WhatsApp in May 12 at 6:00pm at Egbeda area of Ibadan. He however pleaded Not guilty to the charge.
It was gathered that the defendant had alleged that Inspector Folasade Adeoye aided someone to commit fraud.
The prosecutor, Insp Sikiru Opaleye also added that the alleged offence contravene Section 249 (d) and 375 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.

While passing her judgement, the Chief Magistrate, Mrs Ogunkanmi granted the defendant bail of the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Ogunkanmi directed that one of the sureties must belong to a human rights association, adding that they must provide evidence of three years tax payment.
