Edo 2024: Reverend Omobude Urges Christians to Vote | Daily Report Nigeria

Reverend Felix Omobude, former national president of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, has called on the people of Edo State, particularly Christians, to exercise their democratic right and vote in the upcoming governorship election on September 21.

In a broadcast, Omobude stated that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) tallies votes, not prayers, and encouraged the electorate to use their Permanent Voter’s Cards to actively participate in the democratic process.

He said:

Democracy offers us the opportunity to participate in the process of choosing who governs us. Such an opportunity is right on our doorstep, and I know that, especially in our faith community, we are praying for good governance, progress, and peace.

“Unfortunately, INEC does not count prayer points; INEC counts votes. If you don’t have a voter’s card and have not registered, I urge you to do so and take advantage of the opportunity that democracy offers us.”

Omobude urged the people of Edo to demonstrate their knowledge and political enlightenment by voting for a credible candidate who can move the state forward.

He advised voters to scrutinize the track records of the candidates and cast their votes based on merit and credibility.

The former PFN president also prayed for peace before, during, and after the election, saying, “We must show the world that the people of Edo are knowledgeable and politically enlightened. No intimidation; do not allow yourself to be intimidated. Vote for your values and vote your conscience.”

Omobude’s call to action comes as the people of Edo State prepare to go to the polls on September 21 to elect their next governor.

With the election just days away, the stakes are high, and the people of Edo are eager to exercise their democratic right and choose their leader.
