The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has announced the arrest of seven suspected thugs in connection with last Thursday’s fuel hike protest in Ilorin, Kwara State capital.
According to a statement issued by the NSCDC spokesman in the state, Ayoola Michael, the suspects were allegedly involved in unlawful and violent conduct during the protest.
The statement revealed that the arrest was made following a report by one Olusegun Taiwo, who claimed that she was attacked by a group of youths, suspected to be hoodlums, while on her way to work. The hoodlums allegedly forcefully took her bag, phones, and other valuables.

NSCDC operatives arrested the seven suspects, who were allegedly part of a group of hoodlums responsible for terrorising and causing public unrest in Ilorin, particularly in the Sango area.
It was revealed that the protest, which was initially peaceful, was hijacked by hoodlums who exploited the situation, engaging in theft and causing chaos in the Ilorin metropolis.
The NSCDC has assured that the suspects will face the full wrath of the law, and has urged the public to remain calm and go about their lawful businesses.
