Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has shared his aspirations to compete in both the UEFA Champions League and the FIFA World Cup.

After a brief absence, the 24-year-old has made his way back into the Super Eagles squad, regaining attention with his strong performances for Udinese.

Maduka Okoye had lost his spot in the national team following the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

However, his recent form has impressed the national team selectors, and with the Super Eagles facing a challenging path to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, Okoye is determined to help Nigeria secure a spot. The team currently sits fifth in Group D of the CAF World Cup qualification, with only three points from four games.

Speaking about the team’s situation, Maduka Okoye said in an interview with the Italian Football Podcast, “We are in a difficult situation right now, but when we all meet up in the national team camp, it’s a great vibe—family vibes. I’m sure that we will get to our goal. We have a new coach, so we are looking forward to what’s coming. It would mean the world to play for Nigeria at the World Cup.”

Regarding his Champions League ambitions, Okoye added, “For sure, one day I want to play in the Champions League. This is what we dream of growing up; it’s the number one target. But I know I have to take things step by step, work on a lot of things. But I also know that I can be there, so that’s why we all work hard.”
