Erling Haaland Surpasses Mbappe as World’s Best Striker, Says Austria Coach

Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe

Austria head coach Ralf Rangnick has expressed his belief that Manchester City’s Erling Haaland has now moved ahead of Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe as the best striker in the world.

Haaland’s recent performances have been nothing short of extraordinary, with the Norwegian forward already scoring seven goals in just three Premier League matches this season.

Last season, Erling Haaland was equally impressive, finishing with a remarkable 38 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions for Manchester City. His consistent goal-scoring ability has made him one of the most feared strikers in the game today.

On the other hand, Kylian Mbappe has faced growing criticism for his recent form. The French forward had a disappointing outing at Euro 2024 and has struggled to make a significant impact in LaLiga so far this season.

These struggles have led some to question whether he still holds the title of the world’s best striker.

Rangnick, speaking ahead of Austria’s UEFA Nations League clash with Norway, admitted that he used to consider both Haaland and Mbappe as the top strikers in the world.

However, he now believes Erling Haaland has edged ahead, attributing this to Mbappe’s recent dip in form. Rangnick praised Haaland for his speed, agility, and exceptional jumping ability, noting that the Norwegian forward has very few weaknesses in his game.
