Adeyemo Boluwatife, the personal assistant to the late singer Mohbad, has claimed that Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, pushed for his son’s immediate burial after receiving N2 million from Nigerian musician Davido.
Adeyemo made this statement while testifying at the coroner’s inquest held in Ikorodu on Wednesday.
The inquest, which began on September 29, 2023, was initiated by the Lagos State Government to investigate the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death. Mohbad, who passed away on September 12, 2023, under suspicious circumstances, was buried the very next day.

In response to widespread demands for justice, Mohbad’s body was exhumed on September 21, 2023, for an autopsy conducted by the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).
During the court hearing, Adeyemo, who is also Mohbad’s nephew, testified that after receiving N2 million from Davido, Mohbad’s father insisted on an immediate burial. He further stated that he had transferred N1 million to Aloba, and the remaining amount was given to Adura, Mohbad’s younger brother, after covering hospital bills and ambulance fees.
Adeyemo also revealed, according to TheCable, that investigators took possession of Mohbad’s phone following his death.
