The 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi has denied claims that he agreed to become a vice-presidential candidate in the 2027 elections.

Obi refuted the reports, stating that he remains committed to LP and is not desperate to become president or hold any position.

In a series of posts on his official X handle, Obi stressed that he is determined to see Nigeria develop and is willing to partner with those who share his vision for advancing Nigeria’s progress.

He clarified that he did not say he would be vice president to anyone and is surprised by the misrepresentation of his words.

Obi stated that he is committed to bringing millions of out-of-school children back into classrooms and ensuring healthy living and poverty reduction.

He challenged those misrepresenting his words to explain how they plan to achieve these goals.

The former Anambra State Governor reiterated that he is open to working with others who share his vision for a new Nigeria, but upheld that his commitment to Nigeria remains steadfast, even if he doesn’t occupy any office.

Obi’s denial comes after reports emerged that he had agreed to be a vice-presidential candidate in the 2027 elections, which he has categorically denied.
