Manchester City officials have reassured Pep Guardiola and the squad that the club will prevail in the upcoming “trial of the century” against the Premier League, set to begin on Monday.
City faces 115 charges related to alleged financial breaches spanning from 2009 to 2018.
Aymeric Laporte, who won five titles with City’s Pep Guardiola before his move to Al Nassr, revealed what the players were told regarding the trial.

“When the news broke, the sporting director (Txiki Begiristain) and the CEO (Ferran Soriano) assured us that there was nothing to worry about because City has not broken any rules,” Laporte told Mail Sport. “They said everything was fine, so we believe City will be okay. I don’t think there will be any issues.”
City has won eight league titles since 2012, including six of the last seven. The hearing is expected to last about 10 weeks, with a verdict anticipated early next year.
