Edo Poll: PDP Makes U-Turn, Agrees to Sign Peace Accord | Daily Report Nigeria

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State has agreed to sign the Peace Accord after initially threatening to boycott the upcoming governorship election.

This sudden change of heart came after a closed-door meeting with the party’s caucus.

Governor Godwin Obaseki, who is also the party’s governorship candidate, made the announcement on Tuesday.

He explained that the decision was reached after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, assured the party of a level playing field in the election.

This development comes after PDP chairman Anthony Aziegbemi and Obaseki withdrew their threat to boycott the election, convinced by the new commitment of INEC and the Inspector General of Police.

The signing of the Peace Accord is seen as a significant step towards ensuring a peaceful and credible election in Edo State. With this latest development, all eyes are now on the upcoming election, which promises to be a keenly contested one.
