President Bola Tinubu has not requested the resignation of Yemi Cardoso from his role as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
This was according to the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
It was understood that Onanuga was refuting claims suggesting that Tinubu had ordered Cardoso to step down.
Taking to his official X handle on Tuesday, the presidential spokesman labelled the report as a “bundle of lies.”

The report had alleged that Tinubu issued the directive to Cardoso before departing for China, despite efforts by influential Yoruba leaders to retain him in the position.
Also, Cardoso has been criticised for his inability to address ongoing economic challenges and stabilise the Naira.
A seasoned economic and development policy advisor, he was nominated by President Tinubu on 15 September 2023 and assumed office as CBN Governor on 22 September 2023.
He and his deputies were cleared by the National Assembly days before he took over from acting CBN Governor, Folashodun Shonubi.
