The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two women, Ujunwa Una and Chinelo Igbechionwu, for their alleged involvement in the sale of newborn twin girls.
The women were apprehended during a patrol at Berger bus stop on September 9, 2024, following a tip-off from concerned citizens.
According to Police Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin, the suspects were found with the twins, each approximately six days old.
They had traveled from Abia State and were reportedly on their way to deliver the infants to a nurse in Lagos, who the twins’ mother had agreed to contact upon their arrival.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to being paid N150,000 for transporting the babies, stating that their mother had sold them due to financial constraints.
The case has since been referred to the command’s gender unit, and the infants are now in the care of a motherless baby home for proper medical evaluation and care.
The suspects were arraigned on September 19, and investigations are ongoing to identify additional individuals involved in the trafficking scheme.
