The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called for the immediate and unconditional release of voters, including its members, who were allegedly arrested during the Edo State governorship election.
In a statement issued on September 21, National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba condemned the police’s actions, asserting that such harassment would not deter the campaign of its candidate, Asue Ighodalo.
The PDP accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of orchestrating these arrests in collaboration with compromised police officials to intimidate voters.
Ologunagba described the situation as a desperate attempt by the APC, acknowledging its potential defeat in the election.

He stated, “This is part of the APC’s coordinated plot to harass and suppress the people of Edo State, having realized that it has lost the poll.”

Citing specific incidents, he highlighted the abduction of a voter at Uromi Ward 8, Unit 3, by individuals allegedly linked to the APC, calling it a “cowardly act.”
The PDP urged citizens to remain resolute and defend their democratic rights, reiterating its belief that the people of Edo State will not be cowed by intimidation tactics.
