The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has released a report detailing its achievements in the war on narcotics for August 2024.
According to the report, the agency made notable strides in its operations, resulting in the recovery of N280,389,068.08 from forfeited assets.
The report showed the agency’s efforts in drug enforcement, with 1,821 arrests made, comprising 1,640 males and 181 females.
In addition, 142,291.3kg of various drugs were seized, and 415 suspects were charged, resulting in 414 convictions and asset forfeitures.

Furthermore, the NDLEA destroyed 49.63 hectares of cannabis farms and provided treatment and rehabilitation to 949 individuals as part of its drug demand reduction efforts. The agency also conducted 338 public enlightenment activities.
The report also displayed the apprehension of two major drug barons, Alhaji Sulaiman Jimoh and Alhaji Suleman Ganiu Aremu, who were arrested for cocaine trafficking.
Its Chairman and Chief Executive, Brig Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.) had stressed the importance of training and capacity building for officers to stay ahead of drug cartels.
