The office of the Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, has been sealed off by police amid escalating political tensions between him and Governor Godwin Obaseki.

A heavy police presence was reported on Sunday at the office located on Osadebe Avenue in Benin City, where stern officers were seen alongside a machine gun-mounted police truck.

This development follows a recent standoff that led to the relocation of Shaibu’s office from the Government House. As of Sunday, the entry gate remained closed, effectively restricting access to the office.

According to reports, staff members were directed to report to the John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Agency starting Friday, with a staff member confirming, “You know we are civil servants.

On Thursday, we were told to resume in JOOPSA, and that was where we also resumed on Friday and we would also do that tomorrow (Monday).”

Furthermore, official vehicles, including those used by the deputy governor’s press crew, have been moved to the Head of Service’s office within the Government House, signaling a significant shift in the deputy governor’s operational capacity.
