Augustine Eguavoen Open to Permanent Super Eagles Role but Seeks some Conditions

Augustine Eguavoen

Super Eagles caretaker coach Augustine Eguavoen has indicated that he would consider taking on the role of permanent head coach, but only if the conditions are favorable.

Eguavoen is currently overseeing the team for the fourth time and also serves as the technical director for the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Augustine Eguavoen stepped in to manage the Super Eagles during last month’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda.

The former defender is set to lead the team in their upcoming matches against Libya as well.

While he has talked about the possibility of remaining as the permanent head coach of the three-time African champions, Eguavoen emphasized that it would require a long-term commitment.

“It will be a tough one. You have to offer me a long-term contract with patience and specific clauses because winning isn’t guaranteed every week or day,” he told Brila FM. “You will need to give me time to develop the team until I achieve what I want.”
