Despite the controversy surrounding the Rivers State Local Government elections, voting has commenced in various polling units across the state.

The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) has distributed sensitive materials to LGAs, and voters have started casting their votes.

However, the election is taking place despite a court order restraining the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and other security agencies from providing security during the poll.
